Floyd praises county action on Lucky Shoals Park

State Rep. Hugh Floyd (D-Norcross) said Thursday recent action by the Gwinnett County Commission brings a community center project at Lucky Shoals Park one step closer to completion.

Floyd, who has led community efforts to push for the new center, said commissioners’ approval of a construction contract means work will begin soon. The community center and gymnasium to be built at Lucky Shoals Park on Britt Road near Norcross will be similar to the facilities at Bogan Park in Buford, Floyd said.

“I am pleased with the commissioners’ action on Lucky Shoals and all of the leadership they have shown, along with Parks & Recreation Department officials,” Floyd said. “This is a true community project.”

Commissioners approved a design contract with Sutton Architectural Services Inc. for the $5.3 million project, which will be funded by special purpose local option sales tax revenue.

Floyd is serving his second term as representative from Georgia’s 99th House District. For more information, visit www.hughfloyd.com.
